Baan Oun Rak - Part 2:
Living Together Through Shared Agreements
One day at Baan Oun Rak, CPCR Treatment Shelter, children gathered in a circle to create their own ‘Living Together Agreements’ — paying attentions during activities, sharing toys, keeping spaces clean, and resolving conflicts without violence. These agreements were not imposed by any caregivers, but shaped through the children’s own voices and discussions. As a result, they felt ownership and shared responsibility in following them.
At Baan Oun Rak, creating agreements is part of the healing and learning process. Children practice listening, making decisions together, and understanding that a safe environment depends on everyone’s participation and respect.
Caregivers do more than set rules — they create a safe space where children can express themselves, learn from real experiences, and gradually rebuild confidence through cooperation.
Here, agreements are more than words on paper. They are lessons in respect, responsibility, and peaceful coexistence — small but meaningful steps toward helping children grow into secure and resilient individuals.
