CPCR have implemented the child abuse prevention program in schools and communities nationwide for many years, children share that ‘bullying’ is the most common form of violence that they have experienced today. On 25 – 26 August, CPCR and the Child and Youth Council of Khlong Yang Sub District and Koh Klang Subdistrict in Krabi Province conduct a peer-to-peer program which educates children on understanding effects of child bullying and promoting empathy. Children also have a chance to brainstorm on how to prevent bullying in their communities and how to assist other friends who get bullied. There are 2 groups of children who join the activity. There are children from children and youth councils and school dropouts. At the end of the session, students make an agreement among each other on stopping bullying in a school. They also produce a media campaign which promotes child bullying prevention. Meanwhile, for a group of dropouts, they share that they are willing to be part of child bullying program in their areas. They make an agreement in their groups and have verbal warning if someone breaks the rule.
This activity is part of CPCR project ‘End Violence against Children in Thailand and ASEAN’ which is supported by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and terre des Hommes Germany.
